Sixth Form Applications
Applications for entry into our Sixth Form for September 2025 are now open, following our Open Evening on Thursday 7th November. Our deadline for applications is Monday 27th January 2025 - after this date you will be placed on a waiting list with final confirmation of whether we can offer you a place coming after results day.
We welcome applications from both internal and external candidates, every year we see students joining us from a variety of different schools, both state and independent. This year we have had applications from over 25 different schools. You are very welcome to come for a visit and look around our Sixth Form.
Details of the courses that we offer are found in our prospectus under the tab 'Sixth Form Courses' (please note that this is currently last year's prospectus and may be subject to change). Please be aware that low student numbers opting for a subject or timetabling restrictions, may mean that certain courses or combinations of courses are not available. We will be able to provide confirmation of choices when all applicants are interviewed around March. Our sixth form admissions policy can be found here.
Entry Requirements:
Please note that the government is currently reviewing the sixth form curriculum and is not due to report until December. Therefore our entry requirements to the Sixth Form and for individual courses are subject to change depending on the outcome of this review. Currently we require 8 GCSEs (or equivalent) including a minimum of grade 4 in five subjects which must include English and Maths. Please note that there are specific entry requirements for certain subjects which can be found at the bottom of each subject page in our prospectus found under 'Sixth Form Courses'.
How to choose your subjects:
There are 3 things that should be considered when making subject choices:
- Interest in the subject
- Predicted grades
- Future plans and combination of subjects - in order to help with this then we strongly recommend looking at the website https://www.informedchoices.ac.uk/, however please be aware that not all subjects are included.
It is vital that students are guided onto the most appropriate courses in order to facilitate future career options and to ensure they select subjects where they will be successful. It is for this reason that all applicants are interviewed to review their options and why we have certain subject specific entry requirements. Further interviews may take place in August or September to adjust student choices based on their GCSE attainment.
When completing the application form it is very important that subjects are entered in order of preference.
