Wheatley Park GCSE Results 2023
Sincere congratulations to the Class of 2023 on achieving excellent GCSE and vocational award results.
In the year when the government has brought results back in line with pre-pandemic levels, this cohort has surpassed the pre-pandemic school record for overall progress with students from all backgrounds and starting points flourishing in their learning.
At Wheatley Park, 78% of GCSEs were awarded at grade 4 (considered a ‘standard’ pass and equivalent to the former C grade) or above compared to the national pass rate of 68% this year. Meanwhile, 64% of Wheatley Park GCSEs were awarded at grade 5 (considered a ‘strong’ pass’) or above - also, ten percent above this year’s national rate.
Special congratulations go to Edie May Barulis who achieved a remarkable ten grade 9s (including Further Maths, Computer Science and Mandarin) and two grade 8s.
That said, success at all levels has been both hard won and richly deserved.
Students have demonstrated our school values of Everyone Learning and Everyone Caring at every turn in order to overcome both universal challenges, such as the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and individual challenges which, for some courageous students, included relocating from the Ukraine to the UK.
We are immensely proud of each and every student’s achievements and confident that they will continue to thrive as they take up their next steps in education or training.
We look forward to welcoming back the majority of the cohort to our Sixth Form this September, but for those students who have walked out of our doors for the final time, thank you for being such valued members of our community and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Wheatley Park Post-16 Results 2023
Wheatley Park School warmly congratulates every Year 13 and Year 12 student on their A-level, AS-level and Vocational and Technical Qualification results this year.
Students have consistently demonstrated our school values of Everyone Learning and Everyone Caring and every success is richly deserved.
The majority of Year 13 students will be heading off to universities around the country to study a wide range of subjects at degree level from Aerospace Engineering to Visual Effects and Motion Graphics.
For example, Aili Williams, who achieved A grades in English, French and History, is off to study Japanese at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. She thanked her teachers for being so compassionate and always willing to go above and beyond.
An increasing number of students are taking up degree apprenticeships which offer the advantage of studying for a full degree while in paid employment. Lucas Yendole, for instance, will be taking up a degree apprenticeship with Thames Valley Police. He described his time at school as “brilliant.” “I’ve had really understanding, patient teachers and so many great extracurricular opportunities,” he said.
In both A-levels and Vocational and Technical Qualifications the cohort of 99 students recorded a 100% pass rate. At A-level, 19% of grades were awarded at A* to A and 53% at A* B. In Vocational and Technical Qualifications, 41% of grades gained were Distinction*s or Distinctions and 85% were at Merit level or above.
In all cases, we thank students for contributing so positively to school life and wish them all the best for their next steps and beyond.
